Biography

Jason practices commercial litigation, with an emphasis on securities law matters. He holds a law degree from the University of Manitoba and has completed all of the requirements for his Master of Laws in securities law from Osgoode Hall Law School (York University), from which he will formally graduate in June, 2024.

Jason came to McEwan Partners from a large international law firm, where he practiced as a Knowledge & Legal Operations Lawyer in the litigation and dispute resolution group, focusing on e-discovery. Prior to that, Jason practiced commercial litigation for 10 years with a preeminent Winnipeg firm. He also held Clerkships with the Supreme Court of Canada (to the late Justice Louis LeBel) and the Manitoba Court of Appeal.

A member of both the Law Society of British Columbia and the Law Society of Manitoba, Jason has appeared as lead counsel at all levels of court in Manitoba, including extensive trial experience. Jason is also an active member of The Advocates’ Society, where he most recently presented on the subject of cryptocurrency regulation at the 13th Annual Securities Symposium.

Jason is fluent in English and French and able to assist clients in either language.

In his spare time, Jason enjoys keeping up with the latest developments in the capital markets, particularly in the derivatives space and commodities markets, as well as spending time with his family on the golf course.
