Ken McEwan co-chairs The Allan McEachern Course in Trial Advocacy at the Peter A. Allard School of Law (UBC) for third year law students. The course is given by leading members of the judiciary and litigation bar, in lectures and student practice sessions. The course is designed to expose students to all aspects of litigation practice. The focus of the course is on developing students’ advocacy skills in the various aspects of civil and criminal litigation, including trial strategy, trial preparation, opening statements, examination and cross-examination of witnesses, expert opinion evidence, closing submissions and appellate practice – culminating in mock trials presided over by judges of the Supreme and Provincial Courts. This is the 11th year Ken has co-chaired the course.
