McEwan Partners would like to extend a warm welcome to our new summer students Ariyana Dhawan and Patrick Mueller.
Ariyana is a 2nd year student at the Peter A. Allard School of Law at the University of British Columbia. She hails from Toronto but is looking to relocate permanently to the West Coast. She was on the 2020/21 Harold G. Fox Moot team and she is a research assistant for Dr. Carol Liao at Allard Law, and a volunteer researcher for The Consent Project with Pro Bono Students Canada. In addition, she is a UBC Law Review Assistant Editor. In her life before law, Ariyana received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Guelph and she was a ballerina for 13 years. Ariyana remains actively engaged in the arts as an accomplished musician and writer.
Patrick is a 2nd year student at the University of Victoria Faculty of Law. He has spent a co-op term with a Victoria law firm and authored a research paper entitled “Wrongful Convictions: A Comparative Analysis of Canada and Germany.” Patrick has also spent time working as an intern with the police in Hanover, Germany as well as working in Munich and came away speaking intermediate level German. Pre-law Patrick earned a Bachelor of Science in Forensic Science from Trent University (Ontario) which included a year abroad at Nottingham Trent University in the UK. He volunteers as Vice-President of Finance at the UVic Law Students Society and enjoys ballroom and swing dance, as well as traditional ethnic folk dancing. He also happens to be an avid (albeit misguided) hockey fan of the (ahem) Toronto Maple Leafs.
